UK's most affordable seaside locations revealed

New statistics have revealed which are the cheapest seaside towns
in which to live in the UK.
Released by Halifax, the figures show Whitehaven in Cumbria to be
the most affordable beach-side locations when looking at the
average house price to earnings ratio.
Withernsea on the coast of the East Riding of Yorkshire and
Maryport in Cumbria were next on the list of affordable locations
with a sea breeze.
In all three cases, the house price to earning ratio is below 4.0 -
the national long-term historical average.
Sandbanks in Dorest was found to be the most expensive seaside town
in which to live, with a house price to earnings ratio of
21.7.
Nitesh Patel, housing economist at Halifax, said: "Since 2007,
housing affordability has improved in most seaside towns due to
lower house prices and higher gross earnings."
At the end of last month, Hometrack reported that in the last six
months, the volume of buyers in the UK has increased by 36 per
cent.
