Yate is a modern town situated on the edge of the Cotswolds. The name Yate is derived from the Saxon work Gete meaning “a gateway into a forest area.”
Located 12 miles northeast of the city of Bristol, Yate is an established town with a pedestrianised shopping centre with over 100 shops, a leisure centre, library, doctors’ surgeries and dentists situated around the town. The town is served by three senior schools and numerous primary schools.
Close by is the market town of Chipping Sodbury, an ideal place to wander around the local shops and visit the many pubs and cafés.
Brimsham Park is the newest development in Yate, built in the late 1990’s. A large open space known as Brimsham Fields is set amongst the development, the large lake attracts swans, ducks, coots and moorhens and is a popular fishing site. For children there is a large open space and play area.
Yate is ideally situated for both the M4 and M5 motorways. There is a local railway station and regular bus services to Bristol city centre.
